Which FTP client?

Transmit is probably your best bet: http://main.system7today.com/software/transmit/transmit.html

On the macbook pro, go into the sharing control panel and enable file sharing. click on the options and make sure FTP is enabled.

Hook the two machines together, and on the LC III, run transmit and type the macbookpro's IP address (which you can get in terminal by typing ifconfig) as well as the short username to your account, and your password.

Then you can transfer files! The LC III will probably appear on the left, and the macbookpro will appear on the right.

Cory5412: I followed your tips, but it doesn't work for me. I get "wrong IP" error. I checked IP of my MacBook and it is properly add in Transmit.

Christopher: Cyberduck under System 7 or 8?

Is the IP of your macbook the IP for wireless or for the ethernet? You will want to make sure that it's the

Another thing you may need to do is either manually configure both the macbook and the LC's IP settings, or enable internet sharing on the macbook so that the macbook automatically assigns the LC an address.

Very nice, I got a connection over FTP :) I transferred some files, but none of them has icons. When I'm trying to execute them I got a new error message: "Sorry, this program was desgined to run on Power Macintosh machines only..." It's not true, I'm sure this application works on 68k. I have this error message with every file from my MacBook.

Yeah, Intel machines can't run PowerPC (or, subsequently, 68k) code, and your 68k Machine won't be able to run any of the apps from the macbook.

What happens when you transfer a data file? Despite not having an icon you should be able to open data files in appropriate programs. (Although it would be extremely dependent upon the applications you have on both machines.)

Nope, I even can't open the files. They are just lonely files _but_ with a proper size. It's interesting why I can use files from burned CD-Rs, but can't use them from FTP.

I liked Anarchy/Interarchie verry much and still use it sometimes.

For SFTP the only solution I know is "MacSFTP Classic"

For FTP with SSL you would need "NetFinder".
