Well this is interesting:

The storm cards were cool. they're basically JPEG compressors/decompressors that were much faster than any 68K processor. You need the control panel so it will speed up any operation that calls on the routines it can handle.
It's most current use would be to speed up web browsing on a 68K Mac, like a non-AV Quadra.

BTW, the Storm control panel can also be used to speed up Web Browsing on an AV Quadra WITHOUT the Storm Card (It uses the DSPs).

Do anyone have the framework3210.sit.hqx mentioned above?

And does anyone have any information on ARTA (Apple Real Time Architecture) and how to code for it?

Apple themself mentions it will have to be specifically written to use the Apple Real-Time Architecture manager, but I cannot find any information on this manager anywhere. And do you need an extension? Is it native in 7.6? etc..

I came across a write-up on the Spectral Innovations, Inc. MacDSP Coprocessor Card and the MacDSPXKC Coprocessor Card, and then found this thread. I was wondering, if we made a modern equivalent of one of the DSP cards, could it be used to deal with the math requirements to provide HTTPS support to old systems?

I think there are currently multiple good options for coprocessors that would be capable of that; the problem is that someone needs to write the software.
