Unknown LC board/accelerator

Sorry about the picture size, it's the largest available I could find.  I'm just wondering what type of board is in both of these LCs as it looks like one card is piggybacking on the another, with the top card being for an FPU and the bottom being the unknown card, which appears to have some sort of external port as well.  Anyone have any ideas?

 
Is the upper card directly over the CPU? If so, can it be that there are 2 cards in there, the one on the right being a PDS card and the upper card being a CPU upgrade and bus-multiplier?

 
Very strange, looks like it might be a comparison shot to me for several reasons

I just installed the PAS16 in an LC and I don't see cubic for even a passthru connection between two cards mounted like that. The sound card is larger in width and depth than that L shaped card and a full rectangle to boot.

A custom setup for a stacked board config is the only thing that makes any kind of sense to my coffee deprived noggin, But if that were the case, why not make the bottom card a full rectangle to make room for a the FPU socket? CoPro card is the only thing that comes to mind for use with any other PDS card. It's the only expansion I can think of that wouldn't use the LC's only Slot ID.

Could a 16bit cache card make sense?

Did anyone ever sell an empty socketed FPU card? That makes no sense at all, it should be board mounted unless there's another function.

Looks like the makings of an interesting hack though.

 
That was my first thought (that it was some type of custom build), since I didn't think a standard PDS card had enough room for piggybacking another card on top of it.  The photo makes it look like the bottom L-shaped board continues under what I assume is an FPU board.  Of course, it could be that there's a cutout for the PDS slot and the bottom board interfaces using something akin to a Killy clip.  The only other thing I could think of was that the bottom board was some type of video card, given the size of the external port but that still doesn't address the vertical space limitation.

 
Possible it's all just one card? I mean the pcb colors make it appear as two, but based on space constraints as seen from jt's pic, I am thinking one (if it's not just a hack job).

The Envisio Quick16 was an LC PDS video card that had an FPU socket (per LEM). I haven't been able to come up with a picture of one though.

 
Nice linkage and info, THX. Is then is safe to say that the pics above are intended to compare the size of the card to a standard FPU card placed above it?

 
VERY strange! Every other Expansion Card I've seen with an FPU upgrade capability was a socket for its installation on the main board. They had the surface area available and just the board interconnect  alone would be pricier than a socket, much less the connector AND socket mounted to a daughtercard's PCB!

Maybe it was an afterthought? Dunno, an LC Slot Card designed to spec wouldn't seem to have had pace above the board for a daughtercard. Apparently it does, I'll have to take a closer look. Curiouser and curiouser!

Yep, I saw it back in the day, but had no use for it. I've long since been craving one  .  .  .  though I still have no use for it! :lol:
