The Multimac.ch archive is back online!

Hi guys!

It's christmas... The long gone multimac.ch archive is back online, at .

The guy's a fellow swiss collector, who's managed to collect a huge amount of stuff from 1983-1998. His archive was well known in the early 2000's, and is still referenced to on sites such as Gamba's. For one, he's got one of the only sources for the ellusive HD20 driver floppy.

Long story short: he lives not far from me. I had tried to contact him a couple of times in the past about multimac.ch, without success. I saw he was getting rid of some of his hardware on a local auction site, and I bought a Macintosh II from him, complete with a 12" monitor, a One Scanner and a LaserWriter II just to get in touch. He kindly accepted to put his archive back online on his personnal site, and it's here to stay!

So help yourself, and have a happy downloading!

We generally don't like software archives around here...

Well.. this one is dear to the heart of a lot of long time Mac enthusiasts, and contains a lot of stuff you won't find elsewhere, especially very early Mac software.

I still run a mirror of mac hut at home, should be amongst the first results in google. The server (a Thinkpad X61 :) ) get's stressed by online vandals every now and then.

They use some kind of fancy software wich opens 10 connections at the same time. Wich results in no speedup, since every instance just gets 1/10th of the bandwidth i alotted to mac hut. :o) Kids these days. |)

Afaik wget only uses one download at a time, wich i would prefer, few large packets are less overhead than a lot tiny packets. I bet it's some kind of fancy, ad financed, windows software, promising heaven on earth.

Software archives are out there and still online. Some original, some mirrored. Nice that multimac is one of them. |)

I'm glad I bookmarked it while I still could.

Piracy is bad, but is the Multimac (or whatever it is called) archive committing acts of piracy?

This piracy stuff (and avoiding being dragged into it) can be really icky business.

Yeah. But one can find a lot of software, even complete archives, using google. Just keep your eyes peeled out there. ;D

Did anyone grab this one? I don't know what the new link was as it was removed back then. I think we're a bit more relaxed on this now, as the legalities around abandonware are a little more understood now.

So if anyone has a mirror/archive of Multimac.ch - please let me know!
