Swap CRT/Analog Board from Classic to SE/30

So, my SE/30 has some burn in on the Tube. And I think the caps may be going on it- the screen gets random interference about once an hour that lasts just for about 1 second.

From what I've read I should be able to swap the CRT and Analog Board from a Classic I picked up (which is in really nice shape) with my SE/30.

Is this something people have done? It should just be straight transfer of the parts, right?

I also have a donor SE that I could swap- that seems like it should be a no-brainer.

The classic is likely going to have the same failing capacitors. Theres no point to this. You can swap the CRT itself if burn-in is an issue.

Otherwise, bite the bullet and recap the analog board.

I agree with Techknight, keep the CRT and recap the analog board. Screen Burn is only an issue if if interferes with seeing what is on the screen, and that is rare to have. Most of the time it just has a burned image of the menu bar and maybe, just maybe a couple of icons, nothing to worry about.

Swapping the tube from the classic to the SE/30 is too much of a hassle as you have to exchange the yoke and a few other things  and that requires constant adjustment if its put in off by just a bit. At least with the SE, you can swap out the whole thing in one shot.

What's wrong with the SE that it became a Donor Machine?

Ok, so forget the Classic. I also have two SEs.

So take one of the SE analog board and PS- and re-cap them?

The PS for the SE and SE/30 should be pretty much the same.

It was a SE that had a Se/30 MB in it - way back I worked somewhere (a big university, late 90's) where I got a lot of SE/30 mobos, and then bought a bunch of SEs (three) and just tossed the SE mobos and made them SE/30. Long story short- 2 were lost over time, and the last one I had- the MB had exploded battery and even Uni couldn't save it. So I have a SE with no MB just sitting here. I'm going to swap that Tube and Analog/PS to my _real_ SE/30 and send the real SE/30 Analog and PS out to get recapped I guess.

OK. I can understand that.

I'm guessing after recapping the analog board, this analog board will be recapped I assume. Why not build a Frankenstein SE/SE/30 afterwards? Not now, but after you get the two analog boards recapped. I'm guessing within a year's time.
