Sexy, Cool(?) 45W A/C Adapter M4402 . . .

. . . I was cutting up the packing boxes (they reproduce around here like rabbits for some reason ::) ) and made a belated conquest of the coolest looking and slimmest A/C adapter I've ever seen. Except for the Duo A/C adapter, of course, those little babies ROCK! The only drawback is the two prong Appliance type A/C cord/socket combo, I hate these things on anything but stationary appliances . . .

. . . only problem, these appear to have a rep as being very un-cool . . .

. . . so, of course, there's no info there about the serial number cutoff. :p

Mine says: 980518913 REV. A

I hope that means the first revision fixed the overheating problem. However I'm guessing it was made 5/18/98. :-/

Clues? :?:

I have one of those, albeit without the plug at the computer end (I stepped on it and it got torn off).

I suppose a new plug could be spliced on, though (like from a cheap generic adapter or a broken yo-yo).

I learned that there was a recall, and I was able to get a free of charge replacement yo-yo type adapter that way.

As I recall, Apple wanted me to return the old one...

...but I never did ;)

I remember reading about this on the MacAddict Forums back in the day. The guy who started the thread on it said, "You really do have the power to burn."
