SE SuperDrives

I'm planning on upgrading my SE to twin SuperDrives. However, I'm not exactly sure what drive specifically was used in the SE (and presumably SE/30) and eBay has loads of SuperDrives with no explanation of what model they came from.

Are the Sony ones the correct model? I'm fairly sure the Mitsubishi ones are not.

I know there's a yellow stripe cable and a red stripe cable, but my SE has red stripe cables...

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the SE required ROM upgrade to make use of FDHD drives. I seem to recall that if you put in a Superdrive, it will only work as an 800K drive.

I'll try to test it this evening, as I have one of each(regular and FDHD) as well as an external Superdrive.

You're right on this. You need to upgrade both the IWM to a SWIM and the ROMs to a set from a factory FDHD (or hack up an EPROM adapter and write a new set).
