Hello, been working on an SE/30, recapped the board and ADB'ed the floppy, and it worked for a while, but now it will not recognize either the floppy or HD, either internal or external. Originally, there was a lot of static noise coming out of the speaker, found that the LS166D chip had goo from one of the leaky caps on it, cleaned it up good and tried again, No static (so far), but no discs working either, no even the blueSCSI external. Any ideas? Thanks!

ADB = Adrian's Digital Basement, he has a very useful tutorial for restoring floppy drives. bibillit, I do have another and will do a board swap and see if that gives me some ideas, checked the board under the microscope and didn't see any obvious broken traces, but I did not tone out all the lines from the LS166D, which suffered the most damage.

OK, latest test, swapped the boards around. In the fail mac, my working board doesn't work right, get errors, particularly "Disk initialization failed. because the disk is locked", the good mac board won't work properly in the fail mac machine. The fail mac board in the good mac chassis does boot up and can see the good mac hard drive, but I get that same message about disk initialization, not sure what that means. I am going to put everything back and double check the good mac with the good mac board that it is working correctly.
The fail mac has had the analog board and main board recapped, I am guessing next is the power supply will need recapping and see what that does. Thanks!
OK, put everything back to the way it was, checked some loose caps, board, etc. So, with the fail SE/30, I now have the floppy working and can boot into system 6, no HD at this point. Attaching the BlueSCSI, the fail SE/30 hangs up at the disk image but without the flashing question mark. Will try the good SE/30 next as it did boot as usual from the internal HD and formatted a floppy, although at the end of the floppy format, it hung up with a stop hand window but no text or buttons, may have been an anomaly.
