SE/30, MODE32, & System 7.5 - I can NOT get this to work!

Well, if he's going to load 7.6 on it, then he'll need a 32-bit clean ROM anyway, in which case he doesn't need MODE32.

It also occurred to me that my IIci is 32-bit clean, so that's probably why it works just fine with the 128MBs of RAM.

I bet if he had a 32-bit clean ROM it'd work fine even with 7.5.5, and I'd be willing to bet the 128MBs of RAM would work with a 32-bit clean ROM, as well.

I think this is case closed.

Actually, now I'm curious.  Does anyone have a IIsi or IIfx ROM that I can flash to my DougG3 ROM?  I'd like to know for certain.

Yes!  About damn time.  I flashed my DougG3 ROM with a clean 32-bit IIsi ROM and installed a fresh copy of System 7.1.1 Pro.  It now boots with 128MBs of RAM with 32-bits enabled. :)

Much better! :)

Thanks, BMOW sent me that link earlier. :)  Also, bbraun had a IIsi ROM with the ROM check disabled, so that was convenient.

Nice to see that you resolved the problem and have it all "clean"!

I picked up a MacSimm to get 7.6 on my SE/30. Did you the resedit upgrade path?

Oh, no.  This was a IIsi ROM under 7.1 Pro.  I was just trying to get it to boot with more than 36MBs of RAM.  Haven't done 7.5 yet.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, you can't mix RAMs of differing densities (Different number of chips on a given side) nor speeds in the old compacts. Everything has to match.
