The PB 150 as well as the PB1400 has a ROM issue with the use of CF cards even in an appropriate CF-IDE adaptor. This is that they will not boot from a device identified as Removable Media in place of the internal harddisk.
One tough liberator worked around this issue by making some extra electronics that lets the PB identify the CF card as a fixed disk at boot time. But as I learned, this is not necessary for any CF card.
A lot of industrial grade CF cards have an autosense feature for Fixed Device in IDE mode and Removable Device in PCMCIA mode. In case you are interested, you might look for something like Altec SiliconDrive CF Card. SanDisk sells similar items, as well. CF-IDE adaptor boards in 2.5" form factor are cheap. The bad news is: most industrial grade CF cards are nearly as expensive as Solid State Disks. So make sure to get a CF with appropriate specification, otherwise you will not be able to boot the machine from this device in place of the internal harddisk.
