remove marker on ibook rubber surround?

I picked up a ibook indigo from ebay fairly cheap. Problem is, it has school inventory marker on the rubber surround on the lid, and on the bottom.

Any way to remove that?

If it's leeched into the rubberised plastics, it's not going to come off easily if at all. I'd try an isopropyl alcohol wipe + Magic Eraser (dipped in soapy water) first.

try dry erase , the chemical is the same dilution method, but the dry erase is made to be removed. We did this on dry erase boards after teachers used permanent markers to make lines.

I tried using regular marker, as it mixes with itself of course. But it didnt change a thing. exactly as it was before. Even tried alcohol (knew better). That didnt work either.

I even had a can of flux remover which has isopropinol and acetone. That worked a tiny bit but still no dice.

Oh well. Sand paper it is. LOL.

Most likely the marker was written on back in 2000 or so when these things came out?

I actually had an iBook come in from a school, who so nicely gave it a tattoo with their school name poorly scrawled across the bottom of the ibook. I never got the damn marker off unfortunately.

Anyway, flux remover might work since it will eat away at the rubber, but chances are it will take eternity and will probably damage the surface. Flux remover on metal is perfectly fine and will remove just about any type of glue or marker. Isopropyl alcohol is far less damaging than that stuff, I have almost no reservations using it unless on low quality plastics, it just doesn't work for set in marker.
