I remember I saw the eBay auction for this and was rather tempted, but it went for way more than I could afford! Pretty nice looking little dvice, it's a pity that Apple didn't market it. Can anyone see soemthing like this appearing again in the near future? iFrame..?
Doh! AND I SEARCHED for all the articles with Duo in them. Damn this Forums search engine. I can almost never find what I'm looking for and everything I'm not!
Let me update the thread then with this reply to MacMan's comment, which I didn't see discussed:

It uses OS X's built-in hand recognition software. I fully expect Apple to develop their own version in the near future using iPhone touchscreen technology, specifically making the stylus optional for written notes only or as a safety precaution to prevent accidental touching in certain uses.
Well, this Penlite is based on a Duo 230, which guarantees that the port is *NOT* a FireWire port. Among the many strikes: 68k architecture, NuBus, System 7.1. FireWire was only ever available on PCI PPC's with Mac OS 7.6.1 or higher. (And was only officially supported by Apple on a G3 with Mac OS 8.1 or higher.)
The purpose of the "Firewire port" was debated quite a bit in the last thread about the PenLight. I would reckon that it is either a miniturised video-out port or some kind of debugging serial port. Perhaps it could even be an experimental peripheral interface, but as mentioned, this wouldn't actually be on the Firewire standard, it would just use the same type of connector.
