PowerMac 7220/200 (aka 4400) No Video problem

Hi All, I finally got around to playing with my PowerMac 7220/200 (aka 4400) that I acquired ages ago but I'm quite stumped on how to get it working.

There was no PRAM battery so I made one with a AAA Tri-Cell holder as I found a mention somewhere that these machines wont boot without a PRAM battery.

The machine boings and sounds like it's starting up but nothing happens after that. I have what appears to be a 2 MB Video Ram module and 16 MB single sided DIMM installed but no CPU cache module (shouldn't need this to boot I wouldn't think). It also has the original HDD and CD-ROM Drive.

I've got several Mac Video to VGA adaptors which both work great on my LCIII and LC630 - they are configured to use separate H/V Sync and MultiSync res (tried a few different resolutions with no apparent difference). I even bought a Mac PCI ATI Rage 128 video card with standard VGA out in the hopes that would help (it didnt).

Any Ideas?

I know this is a bit of an old thread now... but try hitting the CUDA button, then the power button within a few seconds. That should make it boot.

If the next boot needs that trick too, then your home made PRAM battery is no good; check the connections.

Forgive my ignorance, but what it's CUDA ?

CUDA is what controls the power and such. There's a switch on the board, probably near the battery, you need to push with the system turned off to clear it. Might need to do both that and clear the PRAM and see if it goes.

This is incorrect, they do boot and show picture without a pram battery, your problem lies elsewhere. I'd suggest maybe swapping the ram out and see if it changes. If not, I have a spare logic board and Power supply.
