My old place of work had some G5s it was getting rid of and I was asked if I had any interest in one, so I figured I'd go for it. This is the dual 2.5 model (watercooling setup and all) and once I get a hard drive for it I can do something with it. I'm not that interested in running old versions of Mac OS X, so after I run some benchmarks I'll probably throw FreeBSD on it and try to use it as a server.
One thing I discovered during this process is that taking apart a G5 is rather unpleasant. The rounded opening in the side of the case is no larger than it absolutely needs to be, so removing parts tended to involve a lot of maneuvering things at awkward angles.
