Potential: Beige G3

This listing has been popping up a few times from a University sale on my local Craigslist. Hopefully I'll be able to pay for it within a week or two, as I'm getting my first job in a few days. Anything I should know about these? I mostly plan on using it as a file server/LAN server for my compacts. I'm impressed with how clean the plastics are.

You want any RAM purchased to be not too high. The case will not close on a lot of the RAM that is available for the G3s.

Apart from that, they are fine machines for OS8-9, and can mostly be overclocked by a factor of 20% or so — a faster processor from one of the last of the G3 towers with overclocking makes a nice upgrade.
