PC junk

Stopped in at one of my local stops today and saw a silver box in the corner. Turns out it was somebody's homebuild PC...very nice aluminum tool-free case, and CD burner so I figured what the hell... can't go wrong for 20 bone right?

Yup, I was right. Turns out it's a 1.4GHz Athlon box with a gig of Crucial PC3200 RAM, and an 80GB hard drive. It was pretty dirty and the drives weren't set up right so it wouldn't boot. I'm guessing that's why it was cheap? Whatever, score for me.

I also picked up a power supply for one of my old Dells...$3.50 for that.

Good deal. I might start snagging slightly newer machines since I need bigger HDs but don't feel like paying ebay prices for a 40-100GB drive.

It's called the Cornerstone Rescue Mission Thrift Store. I think they use the money they make selling stuff to pay for running a homeless shelter.

I usually have around an hour for lunch at work so I try and drop by there, the boy's club thrift store, and the salvation army once a week or so.
