recently bought a boxed PAS16 for my 840av. Mostly because it was cheap, and on the off chance the audio would be cleaner and easier to record.
Long story short, it does work, but has some weird quirks, and I was hoping someone here had some insight.
#1: There is quite a bit of popping and cracking. Nothing major, it almost sounds like the DAC is clipping. If I need to, I can make a recording for those interested.
#2: Volume is LOW in some games. And super high in others. For example Star Trek 25th sounds perfect, however Escape Velocity cracks and is very low volume.
#3: In addition to #2, in a few games, NO sound works. I only get the opening music in Escape Velocity, no SFX. Space Gypsy just make clicks.
The driver version is 2.0 and the bios on the card is rev A. Are there any updates floating about? I can't seem to find anything after a bout of Googling.
For the games that work, it sounds FANTASTIC.
