A friend of mine has offered to give me an imac g5 for the price of shipping. I don't currently have any PPC macs in use (got my b&w g3 in my closet and my 450mgz g3 imac sitting unused) and I really want to put this one to use. I feel like a G5 is fast enough to use as a modern computer for most task. I'm honestly considering using it as my audio editing machine for recording my circuit bending album even though I have an i5 just because it would be easy to move around. Anyways, enough of that stuff what I'm here for is changing the colour of it.
Now, I'm thinking that dying it might be the best option for getting a solid colour on it. I also want to make some stencils and do that on it which I wouldn't really be able to dye :/ . I've done a good bit of googleing and come up empty handed thus far. I'm looking for people that have modded their imacs and what spray paint or dye seems to work the best on them. Also, what seems to be the best sealer and for what finish (I'd like to keep the sealer looking as close to the original as possible). So, if anybody has done this with a g5 imac or knows of a good resource for this it would be very welcomed. I've seen a website that custom paints iMacs, iPhones, etc... and people really seem to like the quality of those so again if anybody knows what they maybe use? I don't know if the colours matter, but the colours I'm throwing around in my head are: light or dark blue, silver, brown, purple and black. I will only pick 2 of those colours (possibly a third to maybe accent the apple logo). Now I just need to get the money together to get the thing shipped and get some advice on the potential paint job
