My first conquests.

So it wasn't until 2005 until I ventured into the Wonderful World of Apple when I got my iPod Shuffle 1st gen (still have it too!). That greatly expanded when my dad got his black MacBook (1st Gen CoreDuo model) and my iPod Video came along. Anyway here are my first retro conquests:

1. (About a year and a half ago) I spotted a semi-old PowerBook 5300CS on craigslist for $20 (not exactly cheap). I was able to get the guy down to $10 and bought it. It came with the charger, but it was chewed at the tip my his cat and it no longer worked. I got a working charger for it and sure enough, it booted up System 7.6 I believe. The only one problem, the trackpad didn't work! I'm still looking for the cable to fix it.

2. (About a year ago) I was browsing craigslist, and found an ad for a Mac 512k for $25!! No keyboard, no mouse, no System Disk. Just the Mac. I tried to get the guy to lower the price, but he wouldn't budge! I figured, "$25? Just do it.". He allowed me to boot it up and sure enough, I plugged it in, flipped it on, and "BONG" it screamed! I later turned out when I brought it home, it was a Mac 512kE with the Apple 800k double sided floppy drive!

3. (About a year ago) I was again browsing through craigslist and all of a sudden, a Mac 128k/512k mouse and keyboard set popped up! And it was for sale by the same guy who sold me the 512kE! He wanted $50, but because I was buying from him again, he dropped the price to $25. All said & done, I got a Mac 512kE with keyboard and mouse for $50. Not bad.

Both the 5300 and the Mac are nice to play with, congrats.
Thanks! I just need to get them both working. The 5300 needs a trackpad cable (not that hard to fix) and the Mac has a floppy stuck in it.
