Monitor Backlight Replacement? (Dell 2001FP)

I have a Dell 2001FP (1600x1200 max resolution, VGA input) that I've had a lot of luck using with old Macs - it's worked great with everything from a IIsi to a modern MacBook Pro.

But it's pretty dim and yellowish. I guess the fluorescent backlight degrades over time? Most older monitors I've used were like this so I'm assuming it's normal aging and not specifically an issue with mine.

Anybody ever try putting a new style LED backlight on an old monitor like this? I've replaced them on laptops before, so I'm comfortable with the physical aspects, I'm just curious about how to match voltage and size.

I have tried a generic LED backlight module from eBay to replace a degraded CCFL module in an old NEC display panel. The LED strip can be trimmed to the length to suit the panel. Electrically it worked fine and was much brighter than the CCFL. The problem I had was getting the LED strip to stay in the correct position to illuminate the panel. I didn't persevere because of other issues with the panel, if I had figured out a way to secure the strip in place, perhaps 3D print something, I've no double it would have been perfect.
