I got a Macintosh SE with a buildin Radius-card, but I would like to use the internal monitor. Somebody told me to take out the Radius to be able to use the internal monitor, but still having black screen. Does somebody know what to do.
The internal monitor will work fine with the Radius card. The black screen will be due to a fault with either the logic board or the analog board. If it's an SE/30, start by recapping the logic board. The Compact Mac forum has a number of threads that might be useful for how to diagnose having no picture.
As said machine will need a recap and most probably one of the video address multiplexers/shift register/counter ICs is bad (UE8 most of the time but the others in that row go bad as well)
Have you tried hitting the unit on the side a few times? There could be cold solder joints on the analog board. That’s the first thing I’d try if I were you.
I’m a bit confused... is it an SE or an SE/30 we’re dealing with here? Radius made cards for both systems...
If it had been a classic with a FPD then a black internal screen would have been totally normal as those macs aren’t powerful enough to drive two screens. But that’s not the case here.
