Today I picked up an SE, 800k, HD 20 SC model. It was $50 on eBay, and was an hour from me with local pickup option, so I figured, what the heck? I've been wanting to make a restored, SCSI2SD machine for a distant friend. It does turn on, and boots with my FloppyEmu. The outside of the case shows this little guy had either a beating throughout life, or was just stored poorly. Cracking the case, there was some fine spider web, and some evidence of long-term exposure to a damp environment. The motherboard showed it to be a DIP SIMM model, and it actually was fairly clean except dust. Thankfully, the battery was not a Maxell, hence no explosion. The only surprises inside are that it was upgraded to 4 MB, and had an Apple-branded 40 SC HD instead of 20. I found that interesting because usually I would think that someone would upgrade to a 3rd party HD, not a larger capacity Apple one. As usual, no cards inside (I never find any). This will need a full re-cap job. Some are already going, as I can see the screen has shrunk a tad horizontally. The screen also has a fair amount of burn-in, regrettably. IT also is a Samsung model CRT, whereas I think I've only come upon Clintons to this point.
Anyone have a bit of a less beat-up original SE case they'd part with?
