Hi,

a nice surprise from a friend:

- LC475 - older style LCxx case, 32MB RAM/dead 80MB HD, a little lifeless at first but the old "jumpstart" of switching it on and off brought it back to life :)

- 6100/66 DOS Compatible - 72MB RAM/500MB HD, 486DX2-66 DOS card. HD was sadly blank (I love to revisit how things were left!). So far upgraded to 2GB HD (my last HD!), RAM for the PC card, 24X CD-ROM.

- Dell Optiplex GX260 - small form factor, P4 2Ghz, 256MB/dead 40GB HD, CD tray stuck (butter knife sorted that). Fixing up for a friend.

Wow, great deal! :O The Macintosh LC 475 is a great Macintosh; I personally own one with a 9.1 GB Seagate and 16 MB of RAM, and I love it.

and as for the dead hard drive in your Macintosh LC 475, if it's a Quantum ProDrive ELS, than those weren't the best drives ever. The one that was originally installed in my LC 475 suddenly decided to go out by itself without any warning signs. Don't forget to replace the PRAM battery too!

and the PC and Power Macintosh 6100 are also awesome. :O I've always wanted to try a Nubus PPC Mac out.

I've always liked the pizza box styled LC475's.

I used to own one and man, it was a wonderful little computer.
