Is this a good deal?

I just found 2 macintosh se's, and an apple iie with 2 monitors and floppy drive on craigslist. The macintosh se computers dont have an operating system installed, but i have the disks. He wants $100 for all of this, is this a good deal?

I would think so.

I tend to price compact macs at about $50 each and you're getting 3 units. Do bear in mind that the machines are almost 30 years old. They may not be working, They will need to have their PRAM battery either replaced or taken out and the very least (for which you'll need a mac-cracker — a very long Torx screwdriver). If they don't start, offer the seller less than $100, you never know.

Also, if the two SEs are early SEs then they will only read 800K floppies. You will need an external (or internal, if you wish) SCSI drive with the System 6 or 7 on it so that you can boot it.

The floppy drive is also nice to have.

If this is your first rodeo, as it was mine, the thread that I started a week or so ago may help you: https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/28532-troubleshooting-a-macintosh-se/

I can also post some helpful links that I've gathered in my recent googling, if you think that would help.  They're all pretty readily available, but I found it hard to sift between the SE and the SE/30 tips.  Let me know.

To your question, I paid $50 at an estate sale for my SE, with a keyboard, mouse, macbag, all system disks, and all documentation.  That seems to be about the going, in hand rate.  eBay will cost more with shipping.

I forgot to mention that one of the se's was an se/30. Also, i have a macintosh se right now that is all fixed up. I have been working with these macs for about a year now. Here is some pictures of the computers im getting. 1475617189644.jpg 1475617340748.jpg 2016082295180711.jpg

Yes, i have experience taking these apart and working on them, as i own a macintosh se, 2 apple iic's, and a powerbook 150.

If one is an SE/30, and doesn't have a ruptured battery then that is a great deal! Expect caps to have leaked and no boot situation. Doesn't mean the battery has leaked, only way to know is to open it up. The SE has a much better chance of still booting.
