Is it possible to play audio CDs using a Macintosh Plus?

Just wondering it it's possible to play an audio CD using the BlueSCSI's CD support? Perhaps there's a way to play full length sound files on a Plus?

If anyone has knowledge on this topic I'd love to know it!

Without a Sound Input port on a Mac Plus or Mac SE, an external SCSI CD drive with audio output ports would go to externally powered speakers. With System 6.0.5 thru 7.1.1 You can use Redline CD™ Software. So yes the Mac Plus will play, skip, pause and stop the Audio CD but the sound will be piped thru some other Speaker(s). I have done this with a Mac SE, and Apple 300e SCSI CD Drive. Playing full length sound files requires QuickTime which a Plus cannot use.

I recommend this :

Like said, you need to get sound directly from the audio ports on the drive, it won't come from the Plus directly. Remember there is a difference between line out and headphone out.

Thanks!
Shame you can't get CDs to play through the Mac Plus's speakers - that would have been awesome!
Does anyone know how to convert sound files into .cvt format?

Sorry, you'll have to be a bit more clear, what type of sound files and I'm not sure what cvt is?

cvt is the sound file type used by ewk (the YouTube channel known for making the song Macintosh Plus play on a Macintosh Plus), which I can play on mine too. There's an app called Play Sound that seems to play these - I'll give more info soon about it.

If you just want to mess with playing sounds, the original SoundEdit will probably work fine :

I think it will play 8bit mono 22kHz AIFFs, I'm more used to newer versions.

Maybe by using Intech CD/DVD SpeedTools drivers you will be able to achieve that because they offers the option to stream audio data through SCSI and they were sold as compatible with the Macintosh Plus ...

You can see the option in this screenshot:
