ImageWriter II problems

Tried hooking up my IWII to my color classic, and it does not appear in the chooser. I found that I needed to change a dipswitch because apple talk was set to off, and now the printer has a flashing light that goes short long short flashes...

Any ideas? Wanted to try out erasers new color ribbon

I think you may be interpreting the Chooser incorrectly. It will show any printer as long as you have the extension for said printer dropped into the Extensions folder. The ImageWriter II definitely doesn't need AppleTalk to be on.

You should be able to select it from the Chooser even with the printer disconnected. If you can't, verify that you have the necessary software installed.

... I'd reccomend changing back any dip switches you flipped. Unless someone else previously moved them, their stock positions should all be correct. Especially for a direct connection to your CC.

What software do I need installed? Shouldn't it just be plug and play?

Edit Oh so there will just be the printer in extensions and I just have to enable it (And I'm guessing restart)?

Edit edit Ok so I have to drop the extension?? How do I get it?

I know I'm asking so many questions... With my IIGS it was just plug and print.
