Wondering if anyone can identify this chip on my Powerbook G4 Titanium. I have a feeling it's failed as it's getting super hot as soon as I plug-in the power chord and the machine won't boot.
That's certainly the Linear Technologies logo on the chip, and the number, pin count and approximate application (assuming this is near the power cord) line up
Wow thanks for that, I think you've nailed it. It's definitely on the power rail as the caps next to it have 24v across them and then it drops to 5v on the other side.
If it's dropping 24V to 5V it wouldn't be entirely surprising if it got rather warm in normal use. "Super hot" would seem a stretch but I was hoping there'd be more about temperature in that datasheet. Oh well - it may well be in there and I just don't know how to read datasheets for power supply components :-|.
