I went to boot up the iBook (listed in signature) to connect to the SE/30 so I could add a few more games on it.
I heard the usual CD drive "cycle" once, then occurred repeatedly every 7 seconds or so. Killed the power and rebooted again, nothing happening this time. At one point I thought I smelled overheating chips, so I quickly disconnected the battery (power cord wasn't connected) and waited, smelled, listened and found nothing. Later I transferred the files to the Compact, but now the CD drive won't eject (OpenFirmware doesn't do anything either) in either 9.2.2 or 10.4. Doesn't even cycle when it boots like it usually does.
I had the LCD screen replaced last time, and I know it was fine before because I had the CD for Alpha Centauri in there when I was playing it under OS 9.
