iBook G3 600

macpato

6502
just got this super clean ibook, it only has base ram 128mb and i did find a 64mb dimm inside, but the mac hasn't detected it, any recommendations as to where to find ram for this machine, what its ram upgrade is, and also should i be worried the 64mb dimm wasn't detected?

It will take a PC100, PC133 or possibly even PC166 SODIMM.

I'd grab a PC133 SODIMM from ebay, whatever is a good size and cheap (Apple says max 512MB - @max1zzz might be able to tell you what the real limit is, perhaps any eccentricities), and test to see if that works. I'd squirt some contact cleaner in the slot and use it to clean the RAM's contacts too just to be sure.max

RAM for this age of machine is dirt cheap.

512 or so is the limit on one of these. 1 RAM slot, and 512MB DIMMs are the highest capacity made. I say "or so" because these so have some soldered, so the real max is probably 640MB.

Yep 640MB is the limit on these, I don't remember the being particularly picky about RAM so if the existing stick is not being recognised it's probably just bad stick
