I May Get A Pismo Out Of This!

Got my grab bag (box) from eBay, as follows:

3 233 Wallstreets

1 400 Lombard

1 400 Pismo

from this auction:

I figured for that price if I can get even one usable machine out of it, I win! I was hoping for Pismos, but told myself that the 400s must be Lombards so I wouldn't get too excited. The Pismo even has a keyboard with a couple of caps gone (esc and F9).

I plugged in the Pismo, which has no hard drive, CPU, or PRAM battery, and hit the power button. I got a faint whistle/hiss, so I know power is going in there. Now to acquire the CPU and hard drive accessories. I have parts for a Lombard. It will be nice to have the DVD built in on both of those, I have a couple already but they need the PCMCIA card for DVD. A couple of the Wallstreet cases are pretty severely gouged on the rubber parts, which would make them good candidates for customization, I suppose. I don't know if they are technically Wallstreet or PDQ, I have a processor I could try that's currently in a PDQ that had a drink of wine a while back.

Back to eBay for parts! :beige:

I got a batch of Pismo guts on eBay and now have the hard drive ribbon and cage, EMI shield, and five, count'em, five modems, of which only one has scorch marks. ::) I have a PRAM battery and hard drive. Now I'm just waiting for the processor and heat shield combo to get here, and I'll be able to see if the rest of it works! Don't know if I will be getting an Airport card, or just use my wireless-G PCMCIA card.

The Lombard in the batch will be getting a screen transplant from one that has a good screen but bad sound/power card. I figure that's simpler. I plugged in the processor/RAM from the powerless one and the new one bongs but the screen is abstract art. :p

Later I'll be trying out the Wallstreets, but they can wait. :D

Does anybody know something that's good to recondition the plastic? Apparently there was a sticker to the right of the trackpad on the Pismo that somebody scrubbed off with something rough, and now there's a scuffed patch. I was thinking maybe Armor-All?
