How to clean my yellow Color Classic case

Hi folks...

Many months ago, I stumbled across a web page that talked about how you can take your Color Classic case apart and soak in it in some solution.  This would help turn a case which has a yellow color to it, and help it turn more white.

I failed to book mark this page, and I have been unable to find it again.

If any one knows of this site, can you please post a URL?

Thank you.

sally hanson salon care #40,  i hear works just as good.

you just apply it with a pain brush,  and give it some direct UV light for a little while

and then wash it down.

i guess only #40 has enough Umpth to get the job done.

Thanks Uniserver....

The web site for retro-brite is now gone.

So the hanson salon care # 40 is mostly hydrogen peroxide.  After reading a lot of links here, it seems that some folk mix in some oxy-clean.

I was thinking about a tub (I have one that that my color classic will fit).  Can I dump a lot of hanson salon care # 40 in the tub, some oxy-clean and water and soak it for a while in the sun?

25% hanson salon care # 40, and 75% water?  or maybe 59% to 50%?  Any thoughts?

I will look for the huge jugs of hanson salon care # 40.

I guess I could paint it on, but I really would like to give the entire color classic a soak.

Paint or soak, how do I save the full color apple logo?  And I also have a quick time logo. Will the black text that says "Macintosh" fade if I do this?

thanks

No you are mixing the retrobrite and the sh#40 process. The sh#40 process is you paint it on with a paint brush and expose it to uv, then rinse,

I've never done any process of the sort, I just use comet cleanser and clean the plastics in the bathtub with a 3m sponge, Or 91%ipa and paper towel for a swift but effective clean job.

Im not a fan of Comet. I did it long, long ago but it dulled the plastic and it weakens it. Although the weakening aspect is probably not a big deal.

Also not a fan of the pain process, seems it leaves unevenness in the color. Several applications are then needed.

If mixed right, the badge will not come off or fade. Same fore Apple logo, but most remove the logo anyway (its metal after all).

I found this on a wiki:

The optimum mixture and conditions for reversing yellowing of plastics:

1) Hydrogen peroxide solution, the stronger the better. 12% works fine; 6% works also, just more slowly.

2) Approximately 1/4 teaspoonful (4.9 ml) per gallon (3.8 l) (1/3072) of Tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED)-based laundry booster (concentrations of TAED vary).

3) UV light, either from sunlight or a UV lamp.

I also read the TAED wiki.  I suspect that is where Oxy Clean comes in.

I might try the above. Thanks for all the advice.
