Considering the relative utility of box or software in documenting the HD 20, the sale has to be geared to collectors, as opposed to users. Who said, "A collector and his gold are soon parted."?

I would never let you do that unremunerated. ;-) But it is not available anywhere on line. When the auction was still at the $24 MINIMUM bid(!), I considered it for half a second as it did include an original disk. But then I decided that one of these days I really want to head up to Stanford library where I can digitize it myself, along with many other documents. $40 INDEED!

I would still love to get a look at a box though. Having seen the manual now and other drive boxes of the day, I have a pretty good idea what it must have looked like.

As a small indicator of the vagaries of on-line purchasing, I bought a copy of Macintosh Hard Disk 20 (1985), in used but fine condition, from an Australian seller through eBay in June 2006 for AUD0.99. It contained also some loose-leaf addenda for Plus and LaserWriter owners, which gives a rough idea of their issue date. I already had the HD 20 and HD 20 Startup Disk.

I boot a 512Ke/2MB/SCSI into System 6.0.8 from the HD 20. The Dove SCSI card is only recently installed, and awaits connection to a 40MB HDD with a 3:1 interleave by courtesy of Silverlining 5.8.x.

I made the photocopies months ago when we first discussed this. I hate scanning documents but if you're still willing to participate, let's go. I'll send you the copies, plus colour scans of the covers.
