Help Me!

I need to know if there's a way to install 6.0.1 on an 800k floppy with printer drivers AND Tool025(for games)

Has anyone done this? Is it even possible?

Hi,

Did you get the drive in the mail?

I would just try and see if it would fit one disk. I take it you do not have all six disks for 6.01 or you would have tried to do it.

I think it might be a normal disk. I had to strip, off the the printer stuff off to put on a SCSI drive on it.

Take Care,

I have downloaded 6.0.1 and have all six disks. However, my IIgs only has floppy drives (2x 3.5, 1x 5.25), no mass storage. Soooo, I need either to find a way to put both printer drivers and Tool025 on one floppy with the system, or if someone would be really really nice and sell me a scsi card, then install to that (prices on the net are stupid high.)

I've tried and I don't know what to delete to have enough space. I need about 13k more than I have to install both of the things I need, and it's infuriating.

Try using teh installer to install a minimal GS/OS on a floppy and then take out whatever control panels and tools you relaly don't need. I'm pretty sure you can free up enough space to do what you need to do.

Good luck with that! A more sensible alternative to a SCSI card might be a CFFA... I think they run about $100 and CF cards are a dime a dozen these days.

Well, I got the IIgs for free, so I don't really feel like dropping $100 on a card for it. I'd love one, but I'm a high school student and I'm only employed over the summer.

Greetings,

Here's something you can try if you haven't already done it. Open up the System folder and then open up the System.Setup folder. Look for two files, TS2 and TS3. Depending on what ROM version your GS is you can remove one of those files and free up the space you need. If you're running a ROM 01 GS delete the TS3 file, if it's a ROM 03 then delete the TS2 file. Deleting either one of those will free up 30 to 40 k of disk space.

Since you say you only need 13k more that should give you the room you need, if you hadn't already deleted one of those files.

Dean
