getting a Lombard colling fan to spin

USB 2 is a newer revision of the USB standard. Where USB 1 (built into the Lombard) will transfer data at 11mbps USB 2 transfers data at 480mbps. It requires the processor to do more work than FireWire, but it's still loads faster than the built-in USB controller.
PC Cards are add-on cards for laptops and desktops that have PC Card slots. They used to be called PCMCIA cards/slots. On the Lombard there is one PC Card slot on the left side of the unit. The card I have fits in that slot and has a plastic module on the end of the card with two USB 2 sockets.
Ok I know what the USB 1 and 2 were. I did not know what the pc card was for. I am a dunc. I see now what you were saying earlier. I thought the card had something to do with the video. But you were just talking about increasing transfer rate.

First, try transferring a movie from the stick to the hard drive to see if it plays better.
You still haven't mentioned what file format you're trying to play.

I am trying to play AVI movies. I copied it to the HD and I still got a very jumpy picture. Not smooth play at all and I was only able to get it to run with quick time. I tried VLC player and It would just quite on me.
I was just given another G3 and the same thing happens. This G3 it looks just like the first one only the CPU is 500mhz and It actualy reads 1 gig of ram. My other one won't recognize a 512 stick and will just read it as a 256 stick. I have not figured out what the differances are. They look the same even have the bronz key board. That why I think they are both Lombards.

Nope, video card is built into the logic board.
There is one other (and cheaper) way of enabling DVD playback on these machines - I have no idea if it would help with AVI files from the HD though.

IIRC, it requires a Zoomed Video enabled card slot, and I'm not sure whether the Pismo dropped that feature or not.
