Freecycle Performa 6320

Well the ad said Performa 630 so of course I jumped on that.... got it loaded into my vehicle and realized it's a 6320. Has the monitor, Stylewriter 2500 printer and all manuals and disks. Now what to do???

I am tempted to strip it for parts. Any thoughts? BTW it won't power up - this must be one that requires a working PRAM battery as it worked before being stored a year ago I am told.

Steve,

I'm not sure that they require a working PRAM battery, when I had my 6320 the battery never worked, But bad powersupply's in those computers are very common, in fact, when I recieved my 6320 the power supply was bad in it. and my grandparents recently bought a 6300 from a garage sale, it also had a bad powersupply.

I say that you should scrap it, They aren't fun computers to work with, and they are painfully slow.

Good Luck.

Blake.

Well it's still faster than a 630...

I don't know what the power issue could be, but with these machines it is generally a simple power-on with the keyboard job, not requiring any PRAM battery to be present. Perhaps try making sure the motherboard is properly slotted in so it is making good contact.

There is a TV card and a video input card installed on this 6320 as well.
They are always good. For a long time I've been using a Performa 5200 (+ 6400 mobo) with one of these video input cards, functioning as a monitor for games consoles.
