Formatting a zip disk for Lion and System 6

I have several zips that I use to transfer file from my Macbook Pro (Lion) to System 6.0.8 and System 7 boxes. Some of them work great but some of them are locked on the Lion machine while the work on System 6. Some of them work on Lion but will not mount on System 6 or 7.

Does anyone know how to format a Zip disk so it mounts unlocked on Lion, System 6, and System 7?

I don't think you can.

Lion uses HFS+, and Snow Leopard deprecated HFS Standard by removing write support (the reason for it being locked).

System 6 doesn't understand HFS+ either (read or write), unfortunately.

I think there's something called MacFUSE or something like that which offers experimental write support for HFS Standard under 10.6 and up, so you could try that.

Beyond that, I don't think there's much you can do.

Sorry,

c
