I'm considering buying an IODD ST400 virtual USB CD drive to load games on an iMac G3 / G4, but curious if anyone has tried to use one with Mac OS 9, and if it works with Mac OS 9. I'm wondering if it shows up as a USB CD drive.
Googled the device it’s a USB 3.0 drive, good chance not compatible with an iMac with USB 1.1 and terribly slow if it did work. Virtual CD images are good saved to a HD, maybe consider bumping up internal storage to < 120GB should store many images?
The first example of a mixed mode CD I could think of was the original release of Warcraft II. Download #4 here appears to be a bin/cue image of the CD. Download #3 on the same page appears to be a .toast image of the same disc, but I though I had previously read that .toast images could only contain ISO data tracks? Maybe someone who knows more about this could answer that question.
