Cheese?

What happened to the cheese thread in the Lounge? I was interested to learn if any members from Canada had tried a cheese I mentioned (Le Migneron de Charlevoix), and was about to ask that explicitly. But when I returned to post my question, I couldn't find the thread. And searches for "cheese", "migneron", and other terms I used turned up nothing.

What gives?

TBH, I'm pretty sure that person was trolling. :O
If that was a troll, then I'm oblivious. It seemed like a reasonable thread to me. What's the point in trolling about cheese!?

I'm not buying that one.

In addition, it's unusual for the admins to delete entire threads. Even the worst flame wars we've had have only resulted in locked threads. So what's up? Are the admins themselves using the very "revisionist" practices that they decry as the motivation for disallowing post editing after an hour? If you can't see it, it didn't happen, right? It seems a little two-faced for someone to delete an entire thread just because he didn't like it and then to claim that us lowly members can't edit old posts for fear of deleting something controversial we said more than an hour ago...

Sorry, I'm not trying to argue with you, JRL. I'm just a little irked and annoyed at the hypocrisy displayed by the admins. Control spam? Fine. Delete the user and lock the thread. Even delete the first post in a spam thread if you have to. Controlling a troll should only require a locked thread (and possibly a banned user) as in the past. Managed Resistance was a great (bad) example. You don't need to delete the entire thread.

MOUSEBENDER:Have you in fact got any cheese here at all?

WENSLEYDALE:

Yes, sir.

MOUSEBENDER:

Really?

(pause)

WENSLEYDALE:

No. Not really, sir.

MOUSEBENDER:

You haven't.

WENSLEYDALE:

No, sir, not a scrap. I was deliberately wasting your time, sir.

MOUSEBENDER:

Well, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to shoot you.

The member in question is currently under investigation, as others said we believe that he/she was a troll, who may/may not be a repeat offender. I didn't delete the thread myself, but I believe that the reason for the member's posts being deleted are due to the content of one of his threads in particular not being family friendly, or within the rules of the forum, and the overall content of his posts being suspicously similar to that of a troll.

Monty Python is funny. Not sure what your point is, though.
Cheese, wasting time, getting shot? No?

And in the original thread, he did omit Cheddar ( the most popular cheese in the world ) from the poll.

Sure sounded like a troll anyway. I knew there was something odd about the threads, so much oddity that one has to take the chance to humour them...

... and you'd be amazed if I were to tell you about the number of bitterly-fought wars that have been caused by disagreement about cheeses.
