Looks like a video out adapter that worked off those old monochrome CRTs. Don't take my word for it though.

Yes, pass through connector, used mainly to drive an external video projector. pretty common.

Agree with @Mk.558 - I think it's a video out adapter to allow mirroring of the video output to another screen. It might have gone to a monochrome CRT or perhaps to an LCD to mount on an overhead projector, or something.
