Can’t delete / modify some rescued items

There are a number of files and folders in Rescued Items in Mac OS 8.5 that cannot be deleted or modified. Finder will say something like the item can’t be found. Is there some other way to delete them?

Thanks for this answer! I had some trash left over from a hard drive that was losing its mind, and I could not get the empty folders to go away when I emptied the trash.  Doing this finally got rid of those pesky folders!
