Best Java Compiler for 68K? PPC w/ OS 9?

See above. Looking for a quality Java compiler for both the 68K Mac and OS 9 on the PPC platform. It can be two separate programs, mostly just something to use to put a project together with over the summer.

I remember Symantec Visual Cafe as being sort of what you're asking. I don't remember if it compiled for 68k, but it certainly worked on PPC's running Mac OS 9.x.x (though i never tried, I believe it's compatible back to 8.5 or maybe even 8.1 or older).

It certainly looks promising, although I wasn't able to track down a Mac version of it. eBay has tons of Windows CDs though.

I did find a compiler advertised as 68K compatible called Roaster. After reading an online review, I figured $20 for a copy of it wasn't a bad deal, so I went ahead and ordered it a few minutes ago. Should be OK for the project I'm doing, but I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for the Symantec one as well just in case it winds up being more to my liking.

CodeWarrior absolutely supported Java in its later "Pro" years. Look for CodeWarrior Pro 4 if you want the last version that ran on 68k Macs.

Hmm, OK. A trial installer was bundled with Norton Antivirus 5. Perhaps you can find a copy of that, so you can at least play around with it a bit.
