Best HDD for an iBook G4?

So the stock Toshiba from my G4 iBook took a dump on me. It will try to boot, then go black and turn off over and over again. Did verbose mode, and it was throwing an internal IO problem, then it couldn't mount disk0s3. I booted from my Leopard install disc, and tried formatting the drive, it errored out on me. Plugged it into my adapter from OWC to my MBP, tired formatting it in Mountain Lion Disk Utility, same thing. So, its time for an upgrade. Any good ideas? I know the heat from a 7200rpm drive will warp the plastic, but what about a 5400rpm? Or should I try a compact flash card?

Some stick iBook drives are 4200RPM, some 5400RPM, and you won't melt plastic with a 7200RPM drive :p 7200RPM drives do not run considerably hotter than lower spindle drives. Having said that, I'd look out for a nice 8MB cache 5400RPM Seagate/WD/Hitachi drive.

I put a 7200rpm drive into my G3 iBook years ago, no problems, heat or otherwise. It was the first time I had to virtually strip down laptop to replace anything, and a couple of hours later everything was in place, and no bits left over :)

Go for it, but just make sure of the drive height you need before you embark on the exercise.
