Battery replacement for Portable 5120

Hello there,
I’ve a portable that has been recapped a bit ago and I just wanted to use it, my previous lead acid battery is dead and I’ve found in my house a zinc battery 6v 7aH, shall I buy another 6v 4.5ah lead acid or the zinc one should do the trick? I’m just not sure about the amps and would like to be totally safe before trying to use it.
Thanks!

don't bother with a lead acid. use a liFePo4 battery.

look here

Myself, I had a set of these fabricated and then soldered on the tab terminals.

i'm lazy so i didn't 3d print the case.

That seems cool. However, my main question was if it’s ok or not to use a 6v 7ah zinc battery instead of a 6v 5ah lead acid one.

I expect it should be fine; the voltage is the critical bit here, right? My (very limited) understanding is that voltage is how hard it can squirt the power, ah (amp hours) is the capacity of the container. But I could certainly be tragically wrong.

In the interest of providing alternatives, let me show you a product that has caught my eye:
Just eliminate the whole battery issue, store it for years and then just plug it in and it's fine. No leaking, no reduction in capacity. Ok, I guess those big fat capacitors could eventually leak.

Kind of pointless, since it doesn't allow y ou to use it as a portable.

the point is that it allows you to use it without a working battery... which the portable normally can't.

that being said, I agree because... replacement batteries are so damn easy to find and use

My Portable is unlikely to ever be... ported; it's mostly for display and occasionally to mess around with. So I don't want to have to maintain batteries, even relatively long-lasting and low-maintenance ones.
I guess there's a lid for every pot.
