Apple 20SC and Bluescsi

Hi to everyone! I’m Silvano from Italy.I’ve an awesome Macintosh plus 1Mb with original Italian system 5. I use it with an external blueHD scsi with SD card. I’ve been add a diode on the motherboard to provide power on the bluescsi without external cable. Now I’ve been bough an Apple 20SC hard drive. I’m waiting to receive it, but I have some questions….
The 20SC comes with SCSI cable and terminator and maybe works….
- Can I use it with the bluescsi too? Together.
- if I decide to use just the 20SC ( and the bluescsi just in case of emergency, if the original HDD suddenly dead ) can I connect the plus just in one of two SCSI connectors without the SCSI terminator ? ( or I have to disconnect the diode)?
Thank you very much! Bye

Hi,
You can use the Bluescsi in the internal connector and the 20SC in the back connector but you will need a terminator (each end of the scsi bus should be terminated)

In the end, you will get two drives to play with.
Only issue, each unit should have an unique scsi id ( by default, the internal is 0 and the external can be any from 1 to 6)

To be honest, old scsi drives are prone to failure and unreliable, so if the drive works, you are lucky.

Hi! Sorry…. I use the Bluescsi in the internal connector…. Where? Inside the plus? Even if the bluescsi is for external use? And the 20S with is cable and terminator. Thanks!

The Mac Plus doesn't have internal SCSI connectors.
But the 20SC should have a connector on the back to allow you to daisy-chain SCSI devices; just make sure each device has a unique SCSI ID number between 0-6. You may need to buy a cable for it though.

20SC will have a 50 pin Centronics passthrough on the back. You'll likely need a DB25 for the BlueSCSI. That's a standard cable which are readily available (probably new old stock, but some I see online look like they actually could be new) presuming the connector on the BlueSCSI is a socket and not a plug (some have plugs as they're designed to be connected directly to a Mac)

Yes, my fault, was thinking about the SE.
The Plus does not have internal connector, but IIRC someone hacked one.

Yes, you can chain several scsi drives to the 20SC

Ho good morning to everyone! I’ve been received the 20SC😍😍! It seems in good condition: the hard drive motor turns ( but I don’t now if it still works ), the voltages on the power unit are ok ( 5V,5V,12V ) but anyway I decided to buy all electrolytes capacitors, the case is ok but is yellowed…. I think some oxygenated water and UV’s and it comes like in the 80s!! I send u some pics! Byeee
