When I opened my "new" PowerBook 180 for the first time today I saw that there are a lot of unpopulated IC places on the RAM card.
Is it possible to solder on extra RAM chips for more memory? Currently the maching has 8MB and I think it can go up to 14MB.
In theory, yes, if they are the same type, along with decoupling caps. A lot of board were made for more memory than they were sold fort.
They can go up to 14MB indeed, but 10MB memory modules are kinda rare.
The issue is finding identical memory modules that works. Maybe steal them from low end memory modules but there is some risk removing them.
Meanwhile, RAM Doubler 2 helps somewhat with this issue.
