520c screen issue.

This thing has been one problem after another.

Booted it up today to see this:

Nice red/green lines down the top half of the screen. (it looks like there's a circular spot on the screen but that's just the light).

Anyone have any ideas on what this might be? Display connections at the base of the screen are all tight, and there's no fishy cap smell.

Cable may have a rip/tear/cut in it or check the other end of cable into the screen.  Mine I could get to go away by ming the screen back and fourth. I have 2, and by repulsing in the screen side got rid of the issue.

I pulled the display assembly completely apart (and I mean completely), checked the caps on the inverter board (looked fine), reseated all cables, and booted it up again. Lines are now gone.

I noticed that when I thwacked the 'top' of the laptop the screen would lose picture, so I'm guessing a cable was loose or just needed to be moved.

Alas, that bottom bezel will never stay without tape again.

Hopefully, if it continues to behave, I'll take it to class tomorrow and see if I get any stares.

the flat flex ribbons that bond to the LCD panel glass itself is probably starting to de-laminate. 

as these panels age, that will likely happen over time.

This is the problem with the 5300ce top cable which required Apple to recall many of them in the early days of the 5300.

I wish there was a fix to it, it would restore my 5300ce and many others out there.
