I miss Radio Shack - here in Canada they are now called The Source, but they are just like any other electronics retailer now; mostly consumer stuff and very few parts and other supplies like they used to have.
WooHoo....
Just powered up my repaired board and it works :) I am amazed to be quite honest.
A few adjustments to be made to centre the picture etc and glue the white backer card in place and it's done.
Happy New Year!
The bus avatar is actually my own bus :) That is my other hobby.... maybe I should post a YouTube video of it in action!
I will have to contact the guy I got the WGS from and see if he has any other part for that ECI as Dennis suggested.
I pulled the mystery card to see what it is. It's a ECI card (expansion chassis interface) - something to do with Pro-Tools which is studio (audio) related. Makes sense as the guy I got it from used it for this type of work.
One is a video card, and the other one I am not sure. It has some kind of connector that is accessed through the rear of the computer but I have no idea what connects to it.
I think it has the 5 drive tray; at least the part holding the one drive has labels A - E. Here's a close up picture of this:
A couple more pictures are here showing the inside and front panel, before someone says "pictures or it didn't happen"!!
I acquired a Workgroup Server 9150 today :) An ad on Kijiji offered one for sale, so a 4 hour round trip, a slightly lighter wallet and it's home now.
I believe its the 80 MHz version.
Thanks Wally!
Would you have the part numbers or board locations of these diodes and the transistor? The board I'm looking at is dated 1983 (820-0082B on the trace side, 630-0102 component side), and I think the transistor must be Q3 but I see 4 diodes that look to be directly connected to the...
I acquired a second LC III yesterday, and ran across this thread. I took my earlier example out and it has the 16 MHz chip too. The one I got yesterday has the 25 MHz. The one with the 16 indicates it was assembled in Malaysia and the 25 assembled in USA. Both boards marked as "Singapore Rev"...
The pioneer of the microcomputer has died, and I'm surprised it wasn't noted by someone here (at least a search did not reveal anything).
(Henry) Ed Roberts who launched the Altair 8800 kit in 1975 died on April 1 at the age of 68. I just read it in a recent edition of The Globe and Mail newspaper.
Gee, "local" competition for Kijiji and Craigslist looking for old Macs! I'm in Red Deer and have driven to Calgary before to scoop up an old 68K Mac; I got my Mac Plus with the Brainstorm Accelerator in Calgary. Anyway I am glad to see another fellow Albertan on here. That makes 3 of us now I...
iMac600 -
For some reason I am unable to reply to your PM, not sure if it's aboard issue or what... so I'll post it here :)
I opened up one of the donor machines. The HD carrier is separate from the FD portion - it screws onto the floppy cage at the rear, and I think just hooks in a slot at...
iMac600, I have a couple of Classics here that are basically parts donors. If you need the drive mounts, I'd be happy to pull them out and send them to you. PM with a mailing address if you'd like them, and perhaps a full description of exactly the parts as I haven't opened one up in a while and...
