    30" Apple Cinema Display

Yep, I've seen the posts you reference, and understand that Apple has never acknowledged the issue. My display is now over 10yrs old - still working fine otherwise (amazing in itself), and 4-5 of those years with the problem we're discussing here, but was hoping one of the electronic wizards in...

    30" Apple Cinema Display

Nope. The status light on the monitor does the following. Display on - status light off Plug in either USB or Firewire to host computer - Display off - status light off Put computer to sleep - status light on (solid)  I also have a 2nd monitor attached to this computer - a 23" Cinema...

    30" Apple Cinema Display

I have a 30" Apple Cinema Display that works fine until you plug the display hub connector into the computer. When you plug either the USB or the Firewire connectors into the host computer, the display goes black. Unplug them, and the display comes back on. I have had 2 different power supplies...

    Apple 30" Cinema Display Monitor

Has anyone ever figured out a solution for the USB problem described in the first post here? "The only problem it has is the USB hub causes the screen to black out when it is connected to a Mac." I have a 30" that I use daily -- it has this problem. Could it be caps on the USB board?

    Color LaserWriter

And that's the reason that I asked the question here before pulling the board. I checked the service source first, and there was no mention of a battery so I assumed that it would not have one. Luckily on most Apple printers, the controller board is fairly accessible. I know all the LaserWriter...

    Color LaserWriter

I should have pulled the controller board before I asked the question. Did so this morning, and there sat a dead, but intact (thankfully) red Maxell 3.6V battery. Have ordered a replacement and should be good to go.

    Color LaserWriter

I have an old Color LaserWriter 12/660 that I'm trying to get going again. It has sat for several years, plugged in, but not turned on. It still works, but it no longer holds any configuration settings sent to it after a power cycle. Does anyone know how/where LaserWriters store the config/IP...

    Flaky ethernet on SE/30

The problem ended up being the ethernet card itself. Bought another MacCon ethernet card off eBay, and though it did not work at first either, after examining it, and cleaning up a bit of dribbled rust on one of the ICs, it worked fine. Switched back and forth, and isolated that my original card...

    Flaky ethernet on SE/30

Uniserver did the recapping, and word is around these parts is that he does excellent work. But the problem did start when it was recapped. But otherwise the computer works fine, and works fine with only the accelerator card in it...  It's just the wierd thing that the ethernet card is seen by...

    Flaky ethernet on SE/30

Update: So Uniserver has recapped all parts of the SE/30, but still no joy. We recapped the motherboard, the analog board, the power supply, the ethernet card (and it's daughter card) and the accelerator card. But the SE/30 still acts the same way -- with no cards in it, it works fine. With ONLY...

    Macintosh SE/30 without battery

It was nicely done on the original Mac through the Plus. Had a nice outside door above the AC plug for the battery...

    Flaky ethernet on SE/30

    Thanks, but no -- 3' cable between SE/30 & hub - and it's a proven good cable.

    Flaky ethernet on SE/30

I've seen that advice. It's plugged into an older 10Mbps hub that is then attached to a 10/100 switch... I've used this before, and the link lights on both the card and the hub look solid

    Flaky ethernet on SE/30

Have an SE/30 that I had added an Diimo 030 accelerator board and an Asante MacCon ethernet card added in series into the PDS slot. I had lost sound, so I sent the logic & analog boards off to uniserver to have them recapped. I DID NOT send the power supply for recapping.  Once I got the...
