Do you have a IDE to USB adapter? I can take an image of the HDD in mine and send it to you if you like? Then you just need to restore it to your new HDD and it should boot :)  

This is normal behavior of a dead battery, I wouldn't bother trying to run it on battery power! Its an old machine, the battery will be long gone! 

The question mark is usually either Missing OS, Missing HDD or faulty HDD. First thing I would do is attempt to reinstall the OS. How are you trying to boot from the OS disk? It won't boot from holding down "C" on them old powerbooks. Try ctrl-opt-shift-del instead. Good luck! I have a 1400cs...

Thanks for the replies guys! Going to have a look for a cheap ZIF G4 CPU and have a play :) I have 768MB of RAM fitted now. Lets see if I can get Leopard on this thing!

Very pleased this was posted! Just got a powerbook G4 off ebay for £15 (Its not in the best shape). Turns out it was just the pram battery that was dead, unplugged it and it boots!  Now to sort out the cosmetic side of things.....

I've just acquired a beige G3 tower and from what I remember the PCI PowerMac G4 CPU should fit straight into this? Am I correct or do I have to buy an upgrade kit.  Also what is the Max RAM this machine will take?  Thanks in Advance :)
