If you use 7.5.3 with the newer patched disk utility it's really fast and works great with no errors. I had all sorts of issues with other versions of Mac OS and the patched utilities.
G'day chaps, I rescued another LCIII today from old cap death but found there is no sound output if I plug in external speakers. Internal sound works completely Normally.
I checked all the new caps in that area and the continuity is all good. Is there anything else to look for that might cause...
Cheers, I bought heat sinks that came with adhesive thermal pads as they are prefect for retro fit installs. I do the same on my Commodore and Amiga computers.
Finally got around to re-capping my LCIII
This cap was a PITA to fix, I ended up attaching the cap to the via on one side and used a wire, into the other larger via on the other side, to replace the missing pad.

They are socketed so very easy to replace and the pin out it identical for the LC and RC socketed variants.

Hi All, I finally got around to playing with my PowerMac 7220/200 (aka 4400) that I acquired ages ago but I'm quite stumped on how to get it working.
There was no PRAM battery so I made one with a AAA Tri-Cell holder as I found a mention somewhere that these machines wont boot without a PRAM...
You could always find one on Fleabay, they just drop right in.
Btw, It's been so long since I've used MacOS 8.x that I cant recall if "about this Mac" identifies the model like 7.x does? Mine doesnt appear to.
